Thoroldites may find themselves walking to the nearest mailbox instead of a polling station come the next municipal election. The city is considering implementing a vote-by-mail system for the 2010 election, with the hope it will bolster lacklustre turnout at the polls.
"One-hundred and twenty cities and towns -- about one-quarter of Ontario's municipalities -- used a vote-by-mail system in 2006. In a report to council earlier this month, Daniels said they all reported that they would use it again."
