Chief Prosecutor urged all political parties in Bulgaria to address rampant corruption, to stop buying votes before this year's parliamentary elections.
Political parties have been accused of offering money, food and other basic commodities to mainly poor communities and minorities such as the Roma people in exchange for votes. In addition, tougher punishments have failed to stop criminal groups who spent up to 200 million levs ($128 million) to buy votes in the 2007 municipal elections, Bulgaria's anti-graft Centre for the Study of Democracy has said in a report.
